Our body works really hard to constantly fight bacteria, germs and viruses that we may ingest through the air we breathe or the food we eat. Whether it’s a common flu attack, a dreadful skin infection or an upset stomach, bad bacteria may compromise your health and therefore, your internal defense mechanism needs to be always active to get rid of them. Certain overall suggestions are shared, these involve national efforts such as:

  • Public education about eating habits and stress management.

  • Better balance between work and self-care

  • Engaging in advocacy for government action


A second link will show a diagram of a nutrition pyramid. The health of the food that we eat is greatest at the bottom and less at the top of the pyramid.


The third link explains further about the nutrient value of various foods. The higher the nutrient value the higher the calories.


From this we learn that obesity is mainly a problem of malnutrition.

Putting it another way, most persons in the Caribbean loose approximately 9 years of active healthy living because of lifestyle neglect.


Guess what research is showing that there are certain blue zones, where there are high concentration of person living over a 100.
